| Labor Employed by Navy Pier The following labor is provided exclusively by Navy Pier and may be scheduled by your Event Manager: Communications Responsible for installation, repair and dismantling of all voice and data service, including fiber optics and internet installations, and all in-booth voice and data wiring of exhibitor-owned telecommunications equipment. Housekeeping Responsible for cleaning all public areas, restrooms, meeting rooms, and the Grand Ballroom. Also responsible for cleaning all event spaces EXCEPT Festival Hall A and B. Plumbers Responsible for all plumbing, including installation and tear-out of tanks, compressed air, water, drain, natural gas, bottle pressurized gas, water filling and draining of tanks, installation and removal of all venting to the atmosphere, anchoring and welding. |
| Contracted Labor This section outlines work rules for trade workers that are employed by a contractor. Depending on the scope of your event, contractors may be necessary to assist in the move-in and move-out of your event. For a list of local contractors, please contact your Event Manager. Labor Employed by Contractors General Service Contractors employ the following:
Decorators Cleaning Services Electricians Riggers Teamsters
Projectionists Stagehands Responsible for camera switching, editing and tape operation. For more information, contact your audio visual contractor. Carpenters Responsible for un-crating exhibits and display materials, installation and dismantling of exhibits including cabinets, fixtures, shelving units, furniture, etc., laying floor tile and carpet, re-crating of exhibits and machinery, installation and dismantling of scaffolding, bleachers, ganging of chairs, and installation of structural signs. Return to page top. Cleaning Service Responsible for cleaning Festival Halls A and B. If excessive debris is left behind and not cleaned by contractor at the end of an event, we will dispose of it and bill you for the time and materials it took to clean the debris. Excess debris includes literature, lumber, skids and pallets, carpet, products or waste from a product or demonstration. Decorators Responsible for hanging all signs and installing all drapes, cloth and tacked fabric panels. Responsible for installing velcro signs that require tools or more than one person for installation. Exhibitors may hang their own signs using any other type of fastener as long as no tools or ladders are required and no damage is caused to the Complex. Exhibitors may also skirt tables provided they do it with their own custom fitted skirts without the use of staples, snaps, or velcro. Projectionists Responsible for load-in, set-up, staging and striking of any and all equipment including, but not limited to motion picture, video, holography, laser, slide and film used for the projection of an image on a screen or surface. Riggers Responsible for un-skidding, positioning and re-skidding machinery. Exhibitors may carry in computers and appliances provided it may be reasonably done by hand. Exhibitors may remove small computers and appliances from crates or boxes if work is done without a forklift or any power equipment. Stagehands Responsible for operating spotlights. Their jurisdiction includes any public ticketed events. Other areas that may include stagehands are running and operating sound and light boards, and installation of rental lighting, truss, and sound; please see your Event Manager for details. Teamsters Responsible for unloading trucks and handling all material (except machinery) in and out of event space. You may hand carry your own boxes and packages, including pop-up booths; provided that you do not use any carts or dollies. |
