Where is Navy Pier located?

Navy Pier is located between Illinois and Grand Avenue at 600 E. Grand Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60611.

What are Navy Pier’s operating hours?

Navy Pier opens daily at 10 a.m. but closing times vary by season. Navy Pier is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Click here for the operating calendar. Posted operating hours apply to most retail shops, food court, attractions, Ferris Wheel and outdoor amusement rides.

We encourage Navy Pier visitors to contact full-service restaurants, dining cruises, sightseeing boats and theaters regarding their extended operating hours.

Does Navy Pier charge an admission fee?

There is no admission to enter Navy Pier. Attractions and public shows within Navy Pier may have admission prices and current pricing can be obtained from each individual attraction’s box office or website.

What types of restaurants are located on Navy Pier?

Navy Pier offers a variety of sit-down restaurants and a food court to satisfy any palate. Navigate to the menu and browse under EAT for a listing of full service restaurants, quick service restaurants, food court and seasonal dining options.

Does Navy Pier have Wi-Fi available to the public?

Yes, at certain points on the Pier. Navy Pier currently provides free Wi-Fi access in the food court seating area, in the new food experience and inside the Crystal Gardens. The interiors of the Grand Ballroom and Festival Hall also have Wi-Fi access that can be established for meeting and trade show attendees on an event basis. Please contact your event planner or show management for more details.

When are the fireworks shows?

Fireworks are every Wednesday and Saturday in the summer from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Additional shows may be added throughout the year. Click here for the full schedule.

What discounts or promotions are available?

Visit the Promotions page for a full listing of discounts and promotions. You can also print and present the Navy Pier VIP Card at the Guest Services Desk to receive a coupon book with discounts to Navy Pier attractions, restaurants and shops.

Are dogs allowed on Navy Pier?

Navy Pier typically allows leashed dogs in outdoor common areas only, unless signs dictate otherwise. Only service animals are permitted inside Navy Pier. Service animals, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), are any guide dog, signal dog or other animal individually trained to provide assistance to an individual with a disability.

Does Navy Pier provide stroller rentals?

There are no stroller rentals at this time.

I am bringing a group to Navy Pier. How can I find out more information about any available group discounts?

Navy Pier offers groups of 20 or more discounted tickets to the Ferris Wheel and outdoor rides in Pier Park as well as Navy Pier-produced events including Winter WonderFest. How do I report or claim lost property?

The Lost and Found reporting location is the Guest Services desk directly inside the west front entry doors to Navy Pier. Please note that many tenant locations within the Pier maintain their own lost and found collection area. If you have an idea of where you were at the time of your loss, it’s always best to check first with that location before going to the Guest Services desk.

Navy Pier has partnered with Chicago tech startup crowdfynd to digitize the lost and found process. Search through the virtual lost and found bin, a visual inventory of found items. If you cannot locate your lost property, submit a general claim to make Navy Pier staff aware the item is missing. All tangible items will be held for 90 days, at which time it is donated to charity if unclaimed. Access the virtual lost and found here.

Is Navy Pier owned by the City of Chicago?

No. Navy Pier, Inc. (NPI) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation established in 2011 to maintain Navy Pier as a historic public landmark and to facilitate the redevelopment of Navy Pier in accordance with reform legislation passed by the Illinois General Assembly in 2010 (Public Acts 096-0898 and 096-0899).

I am working on a research paper/school project about Navy Pier. Where can I go for more information?

We receive a large number of requests for information in connection with student projects, and unfortunately, cannot respond to each one individually. We suggest reading our history here or contacting the Chicago History Museum for information on Navy Pier that dates prior to 1995.

An estimated 8.9 million people visited Navy Pier in 2013, making it the most visited attraction in Illinois and the Midwest.

How many people from Chicago visit Navy Pier every year?

More than 60% of visitors to Navy Pier live in the City of Chicago or the greater Chicago metropolitan area.* In 2013, this totaled upwards of 5.34 million visitors from the Chicagoland area who have visited Navy Pier, or about 67% of the 7.95 million people living in the city or surrounding suburbs according to the most recent U.S. census.

Ferris Wheel & Pier Park

When does the Ferris Wheel operate? Is it enclosed?

The Navy Pier Ferris Wheel operates year-round and weather permitting. The Ferris Wheel is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is not fully enclosed or heated.

When are the outdoor amusement rides open (Carousel, Wave Swinger, etc.)?

The amusement rides in Pier Park open spring through fall, weather permitting. Opening dates for the year will be posted on Navy Pier’s website and through our social media channels.

Parking

I’m driving to Navy Pier. Where can I park?

Parking at Navy Pier is easy and convenient with two on-site parking garages, West Garage and East Garage located at 600 E. Grand Avenue. The garages are connected to the Pier and can accommodate 1,500 vehicles. There is a flat rate parking fee seven days a week. Find more detailed information and current rates here.

Are there coupons or discounts for the Navy Pier Parking Garage?

Guests who park with valet at Entrance 1 and patronize Harry Caray’s Tavern, Riva Crab House or City Porch (open seasonally) may receive a validation for valet only with a minimum $25 purchase. Find more information here.

Are motor coach buses or school buses allowed to park at Navy Pier?

Can I park overnight in the Navy Pier Garages?

The Navy Pier East and West Garages are open 24 hours. Rates are valid for a 24-hour period starting from the time stamped on the ticket when the car entered the garage. Cars parked beyond the 24 hours will be charged the next day’s rate. Contact Standard Parking at 1-312-595-5072 or more information.

I have a large van. What is the height of your parking garages?

The East Garage (located past the West Garage), with a maximum height clearance of 7’9,” can accommodate oversized trucks and vans. The maximum height in the West Garage is 6’3”.

I have a motorcycle. Can I park in the Navy Pier Garages?

Do not enter the parking garages. Proceed to the dedicated motorcycle parking area located at Riva/Entrance 1 (just past the West Garage) next to valet.

Transportation

How do you get to Navy Pier from a Metra or Amtrak Station?

CTA bus #124 connects Navy Pier with Union/Ogilvie Stations and Millennium Station; CTA bus #29 connects Navy Pier with LaSalle Street Station and Millennium Station. Visit www.rtachicago.com to access the RTA trip planner to find your best way to Navy Pier.

Where can I buy a CTA Visitor Pass?

The Ventra machine located in the Family Pavilion offers pay-as-you-go and day pass options.

What CTA buses service Navy Pier?

The CTA provides five bus that serve Navy Pier daily. These are #29 State, #65 Grand, #66 Chicago, #124 Navy Pier (from Union/Ogilvie Stations) and the #2 Hyde Park Express (during weekday rush hours only).

Accessibility

Is Navy Pier handicapped accessible?

Navy Pier makes a concerted effort to make the Navy Pier complex accessible to all visitors. All levels are accessible by elevators.

Does Navy Pier rent wheelchairs?

Wheelchairs are available at the Guest Services Desk located inside the main entrance to Navy Pier on a first-come, first-served basis. A valid driver’s license, state ID or military ID is held at Guest Services in exchange for the rental of the wheelchair.

I have a service animal. Can I bring them to Navy Pier?

Service animals are permitted inside Navy Pier. Service animals, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), are any guide dog, signal dog or other animal individually trained to provide assistance to an individual with a disability. Service animals are working animals, not pets.

I use a transportation service. Where can I be dropped off?

Paratransit services can drop-off and pick-up passengers from several locations on Navy Pier, including the front main entrance of Navy Pier, and on the north dock at the Family Pavilion entrance and Entrance 1 and 2. All locations are equipped with ramps.
