    The Future of Navy Pier

    The Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority (MPEA) is committed to making sure that a visit to Navy Pier is a great experience for every person, every time. To that end, the MPEA is exploring ways to enhance Navy Pier, the Midwest's # 1 tourist and leisure destination and an icon of the City of Chicago. Here's what MPEA hopes to accomplish, with your help:
      To establish Navy Pier as a world-class entertainment destination;

      To attract visitors to Navy Pier year-round

      To give visitor's more options, more opportunities and more reasons to spend more time at Navy Pier when they do come to the site;

      To improve access both to and from the Pier and within the Pier itself.
    In January 2006, the MPEA released a Vision Plan in the hopes of generating ideas for improving Navy Pier in the years to come. A summary of those ideas can be found here. But the process is far from over. From the very beginning, the MPEA has welcomed public comments and suggestions, and it continues to do so.

    But that's just part of what the MPEA is doing. In addition to the vision process, the MPEA released a draft of a Navy Pier Concept Plan in May 2006. It's intended to provide a "working model" with guidelines for continuing to develop Navy Pier. A copy of the Concept Plan can be found here. The MPEA welcomes public input as it continues to circulate this draft for comment and suggestions.

    Please send us your thoughts as we plan for Navy Pier's future. You can contact us at navypierinfo@mpea.com.
