Armed with her hand-me-down ’78 Gibson Les Paul and powerhouse vocals that could shake walls, Chicago singer/songwriter Aly Jados performs with everything she’s got — her heart and soul and sweat and tears. Her voice is raw, soulful and bluesy with a rough edge, while her lyrics weave a story that almost everyone can relate to. Since the tender age of 13, Aly has been forging her way as a musician, playing screeching guitar solos in punk and metal bands, while dreaming of rock and roll stardom. But her impressive pipes were the reason she was hand-selected to compete in front of a national audience on Fox’s popular talent search “American Idol” in 2011, and NBC’s hit vocal competition “The Voice” in 2012. Still, Aly has kept her eye on the prize and her home-town roots strong, playing monthly residencies to her loyal fans all throughout the city while continuing to write and record. Aly’s debut EP Don’t Come Easy was recorded and released by Cassette Company Records in February 2012.She enlisted a few of her biggest fans to act as extra’s in the music video for her gritty rock single “Waiting,” which has caused an online buzz with its dark imagery and hauntingly catchy hooks.

She has recently released her second Kickstarter funded EP, Was Here that was recorded, mixed and produced by Scot Stewart. Her radio-worthy eerie track Hold On is trending on YouTube and for good reason. Was Here is now available on iTunes. Most nights you still can catch her, with her trusty Les Paul slung over her shoulder by a Kiss guitar strap, rocking rooms all throughout Chicago.

Music today seems to thrive on an artist’s ability to adapt to a certain set of rules, as well as possessing a key sound. If the radio is to be used as a sample of what the public wants, it would also dictate that it should be a familiar sound. However, as with all things, sometimes there comes around an artist with his own views that just need to be heard to be believed, and M.G. Bailey definitely falls into that category.

The band “Cardinal Harbor” is a 6 piece band that gives a very organic presentation of what they would call “roots rock”, which could be viewed as something along the lines of having intricacy in musicality with a “black turtle neck soul”, while maintaining a relaxing “coffee stained flannel” sound.

Cardinal Harbor is just music. A collection of six musicians that joined sounds to build a large quiet, a symphonic influence that moves outside of the concert hall. The group is poised with an orchestral and disciplined musical upbringing yet is capable of taking listeners to new places with a modern style. Cardinal Harbor currently hails from the area that it originated in, Chicago, and is currently stationed just outside of the city in Berwyn. The band has released two studio albums, conducted East Coast tours the past two years and now is working on it’s third self produced album in Chicago.

The hills of Northern PA are an unforgiving place. Hailing from a small town called Ridgway, PA, the CWB exudes a toughness and desperation that can only be cultivated in the working class environs from which they hail. Their driving brand of hard driving groove-rock is reminiscent of the Black Crowes and The Allman Brothers Band, coupled with the blunt force of Pearl Jam.

Powered by the rhythm section of Rad Akers on Drums (Big Leg Emma) and Dave Fink on Bass (That Dog In Egypt), Charlie Wheeler describes his trio as a “song first” type of band. While expansive, improvisational jamming is a key component to their live show, their third album “Rewind” is a solid group of structured songs which allow Wheeler to tear into his vocal and lead guitar work with reckless, pent up hostility.

Mr. Blotto

Mr. Blotto was born in Chicago as an off-night vehicle for musicians who loved each other’s playing but were in different bands at the time. The only rule was that they would only play what they absolutely loved to play. That philosophy continues to this day and has led Mr. Blotto into unique musical situations.

Mr. Blotto takes the Jam band asthetic into areas unfamiliar to the standard Jam Scene. They have been known to cover entire albums by Led Zepplin and The Who as well as perform entire shows of Country and Reggae. Artists as diverse as the Grateful Dead, the Flaming Lips, Willie Nelson and The Velvet Underground have seen their material interpreted by Mr. Blotto in the 2400+ shows the band has performed in the last 20 years.

Mr. Blotto draws from a 300+ songlist. It starts from the band’s Original Material, which is drawn from 5 released and 2 as-yet unreleased CD’s as well as a wealth of unrecorded songs. Mr. Blotto builds its sets on these 100 or so Original songs and peppers the rest of the sets with material from sources as varied as Dancehall, Reggae and Outlaw Country with some Chicago Blues thrown in for good measure. Setlists vary depending on the setting, but rely primarily on the Original Material, with no two shows being the same.

“Barlow Shanghai”, the 5th and latest CD was released in 2006 and saw the band in collaboration with John Perry Barlow (lyricist to the Grateful Dead).

A couple of years have passed since the highly celebrated third album “The Quarter After Life” made it’s waves across the U.S., but Kevin Cochran returned to the studio in 2014 to bring you his fourth album “Edge of Uncertainty”. Recorded over the course of an entire year, the new album featured 13 all new original tracks, produced, performed, and written entirely by Kevin himself. Album favorites include the debut single “One Way or Another”, “If You Go”, and the Kevin Cochran signature folk style closer “I Hope You’ll Always Ask Why”.

Over the 15 years of performing live across the U.S., Kevin’s smooth and easy going folk rock sound has landed him on the same stage with notable industry artists, including the Goo Goo Dolls, Pink, O.A.R., Parachute, and Gavin DeGraw, just to name a few.

Satellite radio success brought many new listeners to the Kevin Cochran sound off the successful release of “The Quarter After Life”. The third album brought many of the same styles of previous albums, but with a more mature and experienced songwriter behind them. The Quarter After Life featured 12 tracks, including the debut singles In Circles, This Year and Let Me Know You’re Mine. Also on the disc is Kevin’s first ever recorded cover song, Van Morrison’s Into The Mystic .

The long awaited and anticipated 5th album “reflections” is due out in the summer of 2016.

In the growing age of the singer songwriter, very few artists possess the natural ability to relay emotion directly through a song with such fluid lyrical fashion. “You know when you hear a song for the first time, and you just can’t stop yourself from starting it over and listening again? That is Kevin Cochran music to a T…” – David Kim of 3M Music Inc.

The Gold Web is Chicago’s art-glam monstrosity. Known for their highly theatrical stage shows, the group doses audiences with blissful grooves, dramatic songwriting, and an outrageous visual performance.

Brandishing 6-foot wings, glitter, feathers, and face paint, The Gold Web look like they flew out of David Lynch’s dream, or Lady Gaga’s nightmare. Musically things are a little clearer– and even more irresistible; the group’s self-titled debut album traffics a charismatic brand of forward thinking indie-pop marked by surreal synths, rump shaking beats, and futuristic guitar wizardry.

Assembled out of a lineage of Chicago bands and visual artists, members of The Gold Web cut their teeth touring with acts like KISS and Smashing Pumpkins, while other members curated notable galleries and pushed the boundaries of performance art communities. The result is a dreamy freak world which raises more questions than it answers. Where are we going? Will we be safe once we get there? Will we ever want to leave?

Disco big band VO5 celebrates their 10-year anniversary with their first album, Dance Originality, offering ten unique tracks of dance music, currently the #1 New Hot Disco release on Amazon.com and the top dance band in Reverbnation nationwide and getting airplay in radio stations from Eau Claire to Eureka.

All tracks are strongly influenced by 70s music, especially disco, and many offer an international flavor with a Latin, jazzy twist. A surprising number of elements come together in this quirky collection of original songs that pay homage to a wide range of great artists and musical moments including ‘The Love Boat Theme Song’, Chic, Ruben Blades, Prince, Quincy Jones, Blondie, ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind,’ Cheryl Lynn, Jackson 5, ABC , Chicago, Dave Pell Singers, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Gloria Gaynore, Kraftwerk, Bee Gees, Debussy, The Flaming Lips, Beach Boys, Of Montreal, Abba, Sly & the Family Stone, Earth, Wind & Fire, KC & the Sunshine Band, and Ohio Players.

VO5 has been playing packed houses and festivals for the last 10 years. Some of our higher profile gigs include the Wisconsin Film Festival, the Wisconsin Union Terrace (3000+ audience) graduation fest for 6 years in a row, Overture Center (opening for Abbamania), Atwood Summer Fest, Dance Dances 6 years in a row and many large outdoor festivals around Wisconsin.

V05 represents the hopes and aspirations of all Americans. We believe that dancing should be an essential part of everyone’s revolution and that when we’re in charge, mandatory wig policies will be strictly enforced. We believe in peace and justice and the American way, especially if it involves platform heels and lots of glitter.

Originally formed in Chicago, the members of AfroZep now live spread throughout the country. The core members, who also perform as psychedelic rock trio KAVA, collide with the countries top Rock, Jazz and African musicians to perform a set of Led Zeppelin songs. Some tunes are straight mash-ups of Fela Kuti and Zeppelin, others are Zep tunes but set to original grooves based off the music of artists such as Tinariwen, Thomas Mapfumo and Franco and others are stripped down Zeppelin arrangements injected with the pulse of traditional African drumming.
