Family Guy at Gateway Park

Family Guy at Gateway Park

June 17, 2013

Yes, it may be a little irreverent and sometimes the pop cultural references go over your head, but most of us have a place in our hearts for Family Guy, that hit Sunday night cartoon about a family of misfits from the fictional town of Quahog, Rhode Island.

There’s certainly no doubting Family Guy’s commercial success with eleven seasons and a twelfth slotted for this upcoming fall. But on top of that, the show has had huge cult success; in fact, it was the fans who voted with their wallets and convinced execs to give the show another chance after a two-year hiatus.

Because they know how much everybody loves Family Guy, WCIU, The U is bringing the show to Navy Pier for a special outdoor showing on Friday, June 21 during a little event called ‘Family Guy Under the Stars’!

This screening is completely FREE and will be taking place at Navy Pier’s own South Gateway Park. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the show will officially kick off at 8:30 p.m.

And what’s on the night’s program? Try the much beloved Laugh It Up, Fuzzball: The Family Guy Trilogy. If you know anything about Star Wars, it’s that the movies are full of material made for parody, which is exactly what the Family Guy version does to hilarious effect.

But while Family Guy is a lot of fun, a small warning to parents that the show is rated TV-14 and because it contains some mature adult content may not  be appropriate for all ages.

So are you ready to get your laugh on? If so, you need to come down to the Pier on Friday, June 21! The first 500 guests will enjoy free popcorn and soda at the screening and there will be Griffin Family giveaways throughout the show—even more incentive to come and join us!
