Do you have a student who’s starting to look at colleges? Then you’ll want to make sure you bring them down to Navy Pier on Saturday, September 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC) is holding their annual college fair!
The IACAC College Fair is a free event that is open to the public. You read that right! You and your college bound student can walk into the event for free and meet with over 400 schools. There will be representatives from universities and colleges from all 50 states, so you and your student can get a better feel for the student culture, academic programs, and cost of potential schools. It’s also the perfect opportunity to discover new schools that maybe neither of you had considered in the past.
Attending a college fair is the easiest way to learn about many schools at once, pick up all the information you need about a school, and make contacts with the admissions department. Sometimes, sending an email to the admissions department along with filling out the application can be the difference between an acceptance letter and a disappointed student.
Don’t let this opportunity pass you up. Even if your student isn’t a junior in high school, it’s never too early to start thinking about the future.
