Sometimes the division between dreams and reality isn’t so clear-cut. If you’re Alberto Saporito, the title character of Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s new play, Inner Voices, the division hardly exists at all. And that’s a pretty scary thing.
Travel back in time with us and witness a man’s vivid dreams quickly turned into reality with Inner Voices, running June 25-29 on CST’s Courtyard Theater stage!
Directed by Toni Servillo and performed in Italian with projected English translations, Inner Voices is being presented at Navy Pier through the joint efforts of CST, the Italian Ministry of Culture Affairs, and the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago in honor of the Year of Italian Culture in America.
The drama tells the story of Alberto Saporito who, after a strange dream, convinces himself that his neighbor has murdered and stashed the body of his friend, Aniello Amitrano. It isn’t until after he’s already reported the crime to the police that Alberto realizes his horrible mistake. And this is where things get really interesting. Instead of denying the charges, the neighboring family begins to believe Alberto’s dream too and make accusations against one another!
Because Inner Voices is only here for a short time, make sure you buy your tickets today!
CST is dedicated to bringing equal experiences to all audiences so if you need hearing and visual aids or require special accessible seating or large print programs, definitely ask. Additionally, CST offers all of its ticket holders guaranteed parking in the Navy Pier Garage. Even when the Garage says “full,” mention that you’re at the Pier for a CST performance and we’ll find you a spot!
We highly recommend turning your CST play night into date night! Come down to Navy Pier early and grab dinner at Harry Caray’s, Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, or Riva Crab House (receive discounts when you present your CST ticket!) Head to the theater for the 7:30 performance and after the show, stop at Haagen-Dazs for a late night ice cream treat!
