War, romance, comedy, betrayal, and music all go hand in hand as Cornwall, England-based artist collective Kneehigh brings one of the greatest and most influential love stories of all time to life in Tristan & Yseult, making its Chicago Shakespeare Theater debut on March 30, 2014!
The intense, but often melodic and humorous play tells the tale of war hero Tristan (played by Andrew Durand), who is sent to bring his conquered enemy’s sister, Yseult (Etta Murfitt), home to Cornwall to be the new bride of his uncle, the mighty King Mark (Stuart Goodwin). Things go awry when Tristan and Yseult fall in love along their journey, both for real and with the help of a magic potion, and forge a complicated love triangle upon their arrival. Will the King punish his beloved nephew or his charming new bride? Can our lovers live happily ever after?
For the answers to these questions, you’ll have to see it to find out…and be sure to round out your evening at Navy Pier with Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s dining deals for a great dinner either before or after the show!
