All of the Lights!
If only for a second – try and imagine Chicago sans Navy Pier, or Navy Pier without the Ferris Wheel…
…And then be thankful because it is only an imaginary picture! The Ferris Wheel and all of its lights are truly an amazing addition to the world’s best skyline. Not only are they visually appealing and incredibly beautiful, but the lights and the view also spark something buried deep within our rough adult exteriors – wonder!
It is impossible to recreate first experiences, but when someone sees the city’s skyline glimmering in the night sky and Lake Michigan slowly rolling around the beaches for the very first time, it can be a lot to take in all at once. Lucky for you, there is no limitation on how many times you can ride, so long as you have a ticket!
Ferris Wheel History
The Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier is modeled after the very first Ferris Wheel, which was built for Chicago’s 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition. The Navy Pier Ferris Wheel provides unparalleled views of the Chicago skyline and lakefront!
The Pier’s Ferris Wheel has 40 gondolas, each seat up to 6 passengers and come nightfall, the Ferris Wheel’s 40 spokes, spanning a diameter of 140 feet, are illuminated by thousands of sparkling lights!
While the lights can be seen across the city, the best view is right here on the Pier!
