Rise and Shine with Zumba and Yoga at the Pier

Rise & Shine Weekends 2014 GKP -25Are you a morning person who loves to get in a work out in the sunshine, you’re going to be really excited about our newest summer addition at the Pier. We’re introducing Rise and Shine weekends at Navy Pier presented by Fitness Formula Club! Come by and enjoy a yoga or Zumba class in with other motivated early risers and some sunshine.

Fitness Formula Club is offering yoga and Zumba classes every weekend in the summer. At only $10 per class, you’re guaranteed fitness club quality without having to empty your pockets. Plus, you get the added advantage of saying that you took yoga classes in our Gateway Park or attended a Zumba class on our breath-taking Rooftop Terrace. The classes occur every Saturday and Sunday respectively at 8 a.m. and 9a.m., from July 12 through August 31.

Never tried yoga? There’s no better time than now to give the spiritual discipline a chance. It is an exercise technique that has been used for thousands of years as a medium for transforming body and mind. This system of mental and physical exercise not only promotes healthy living and leads to a longer, happier life, but also provides a heightened sense of self-understanding and self-awareness.

While providing many of the same benefits, Zumba is a less conventional approach to stress relief that’s rapidly taken off since its conception in the 1990’s. Combining elements of hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo, and even some martial arts, Zumba was created by Colombian dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez in his search for a new way to exercise while having a blast!

Once you’ve gotten your workout in, you can enjoy the morning view of the city’s skyline atop our Ferris wheel, as each attendee will receive a complimentary ticket valid for one Ferris wheel ride.  Additionally, there will be discounted parking for the Rise and Shine Weekend participants at $5 from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. For more information on parking at Navy Pier visit our website.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never tried yoga or Zumba, or if you’ve been practicing for years — all are welcome! Pick a weekend and we’ll see you and your yoga mat right here at the Pier.
